The Red Cotton Tree
RED COTTON TREE
(When I look outside through my window,I see a Red cotton tree which has shed all its leaves . The sight inspired me to pen down this poem)
I see the Red Cotton tree
It has shed all its leaves
There is no green left on its stem.
It stands meditating
Totally drowned in a spiritual bliss!
The tree has shed its leaf
Just to save a waterdrop!
Colourless and flowerless
As an indifferent ascetic,
It chants the \'Mrutyunjaya Mantra!
It announces
That the hurry and furry of man
Would bring no colour in his life!
He must learn to leave
Not only to take!
When l await silently
And meditate down
to the tip of its existence;
I see the budding of red flowers
Tomake a red crown for the wood!
To plot the pulse of time
We have no machines;
We have no lever to tilt
The route of natural cycles!
If you place your skull as a fulcrum
to lift time;
Beware that you might be crushed
Your skull might be shattered!
We failed to mould a measuring stick
To scale, plan
And divert
The cycle of natural flows!
